Description
An easy-to-grow and eye-catching North American native perennial plant, Rockin’ Raspberry Bee Balm features intense deep raspberry purple flowers filled with nectar that the hummingbirds, butterflies and beneficial pollinators will thank you for. We love this plant for its unique and lovely fragrant pompom flowers that rise above an attractive mound of dark green mint-scented foliage from mid to late summer. The foliage is often used to flavor teas. The flowers are also great for cutting and use in fresh or dried flower arrangements. Bee Balm is not finicky about soil type but does like a consistently moist but well-drained soil and at least 4 hours of sun per day.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 18 to 24 inches tall and equally wide, Rockin’ Raspberry Bee Balm is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or in groupings in perennial borders or along paths, walkways or around patios. A fine addition to butterfly, hummingbird and pollinator gardens, cut flower gardens, fragrance gardens, native gardens, purple theme gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18 apart for groupings; 3′ or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Bee Balm is easy to grow in a consistently moist, humusy, fertile soil. It thrives in full to mostly sun however tolerates some light afternoon shade. Morning sun is suggested in order to dry dew from the leaves.
